Lady Eagle Golfers Participate in Memphis Women's Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team will compete in its third tournament of the year when they participate in the Memphis Women's Invitational.
The annual tournament takes place on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 24-25 at Ridgeway Country Club in Memphis, Tenn. The par-71 course will play to a yardage of 6,176 yards. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes Tuesday. Tee times start at 8 a.m. each day. In the first two rounds, Southern Miss will tee off from holes 4-6 and will be in a group with Mississippi State and Cincinnati.
Southern Miss is making its sixth appearance in the Memphis Invitational but first since 2001. The Lady Eagles had their best finish of the tournament in 1997 when they finished in seventh place.
Southern Miss is one of 18 teams in the tournament. Host Memphis (100th) is the lone squad to be ranked in Golfweek's Top 100 teams. Also participating is Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Belmont, Boise State, Butler, Cincinnati, Evansville, Illinois, Indiana State, IPFW, Marshall, Mississippi State, Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri State, Samford and UAB.
Freshman Brandi Rodriguez leads Southern Miss. She has two top 20 finishes in her first two tournaments, including a sixth-place finish at the USF Waterlefe Invitational. In six rounds, she is averaging 75.7 strokes.
