Golden Eagles Take Seventh Place in Sam Hall Intercollegiate

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's golf team seventh place at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate played at Hattiesburg Country Club.
The second round, which was suspended yesterday due to darkness after an hour and half rain delay, concluded this morning, followed by the final round.
The Golden Eagles finished four-over par, 11 shots behind Southeastern Louisiana.
Redshirt senior Paul Apyan earned a top ten finish, finishing three-under par in a tie for 10th-place. Seniors Brent Hobbs and Tyler Sparks and junior Tyler Hillis all tied for 31st-place at three-over par. Junior Freddie Janneck finished four-over par in a tie for 37th-place.
Senior Wes Carter and redshirt sophomore Nick Brown tied for 40th-place at five-over par. Redshirt junior Darren Chapman finished in 45th-place at six-over par, and John Gregory Joseph tied for 57th-place at eighth-over par. Senior Alex Park, playing as an individual, rounds out Southern Miss at nine-over par to finish in a tie for 62nd.
Southeastern Louisiana won the team competition at seven-under par. Memphis and New Orleans tied for second, one shot back at six-under. Arkansas State took fourth-place at two-under, with Louisiana-Lafayette and Kennesaw State were three-over par in a tie for fifth. Southern Miss took seventh, with Mississippi State in eighth at five-over.
Louisiana Tech finished in ninth-place at eight-over par, followed by Arkansas-Little Rock (+9), Murray State (+10), Jacksonville State (+15), Troy and Winthrop (+17) and Austin Peay (+27).
Southern Miss takes to the road for the first time next week when they travel to Newport, R.I. for the Adams Cup Invitational, Sept. 21-22.
