Postgame Notes
* The Golden Eagles finished their season with a 40-26, collecting at least 40 wins in five of the last seven seasons and the program completed its seven-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and 10th overall.
* Southern Miss fell to 15-21 all-time in NCAA Tournament play.
* It was the shortest start of the season for J.R. Ballinger (2.2 IP) in his 16 starts.
* The Golden Eagles turned 11 double plays in the postseason including two today against UNC. It was the 25th time during the season that they turned two or more in contest as they finished with a school-record 83.
* Joey Archer finished the year with 62 RBI on the season, the most by a Golden Eagle since the 2006 season when Marc Maddox collected 70.
* B.A. Vollmuth hit his fifth home run of the NCAA Tournament in the fourth inning. The Atlanta Regional MVP has also added 14 of his season's 28 RBI in the NCAAs.
* The Golden Eagles have now hit 17 HRs in the NCAA Tournament. Southern Miss has homered at least once in each of the last nine games.
* The 23 hits were the most surrendered by USM this season, bettering the 22 given up to Cal State Fullerton back on Mar. 6, which was the previous high.
