HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss women's golf coach Julie Gallup has announced the signing of two recruits to national letters-of-intent for the 2009-10 academic year.
Sara Vanzonhoven from Paal, Belgium and Maria Victoria Correa from Buenos Aires, Argentina will join the Lady Eagles for the 2009-10 school year.
Vanzonhoven is a three-time winner of the Limburg Championship, having won the title each of the past three years. She also won the 2007 Belgium Under 16 Championship, and finished second at the 2008 International Dutch Championship at Toxandria and the 2009 Federal Tour Houthalen. This past week, Vanzonhoven won the Federal Tour Grand Prix AFG, firing a season-low score of 67 in the first round on her way to finishing three-over par.
Correa, a standout from Buenos Aires, Argentina, is currently ranked as one of the top five juniors by the Argentinean Golf Association. Last year, she placed in the top five, five times, including a first-place finish at the 15-18 Year Old National Argentinian Junior Championship. She twice finished fourth at the National Championship Medal Play and the Copa De Oro Medal Play, while taking fifth at the International Rosario's Tournament and the National Junior Championship.
