Men's Golf Closes in Ninth at C-USA Championship

Sorrento, Fla. - The Southern Miss men's golf team shot even par in the final round of the Conference USA Men's Golf Championship to finish in ninth-place. The tournament was hosted by UCF and was played at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.
Southern Miss finished 22-over par, one shot out of eighth-place.
Redshirt junior Paul Apyan shot a final round 71 to finish one-under par for the tournament in a tie for 11th-place. Redshirt freshman Freddie Janneck tied for 27th-place at four-over par after shooting a two-over 74.
Senior Rocky Cleland shot a one-under 71 to finish six-over par in a tie for 29th-place. Juniors Wes Carter and Tyler Sparks rounded out play for Southern Miss. Carter finished with an even par 72 in a tie for 41st-place, while Sparks closed in a tie for 46th after shooting a 75.
UCF's Simon Ward won the individual title at 11-under par. Teammate Blayne Barber finished nine-under par in second, and UAB's Zack Sucher took third at seven-under par.
UCF won the team competition at 17-under, five shots ahead of second-place SMU (-12). UAB earned third at three-under. Memphis finished in fourth-place at twor-over par, while Tulsa was nine-over par in fifth-place.
East Carolina earned sixth-place at +11, followed by Houston (+14), Rice (+21), Southern Miss (+22), UTEP (+31) and Marshall (+57).
