Southern Miss ends a two-game road stint at Belmont on Dec. 16 at 7 p.m., as the Lady Eagles look to earn their first road win of the season.
The game will be broadcast on WXHB-FM 96.5 with Josh West providing play-by-play action. Southern Miss (4-5) is coming off a 72-53 loss at Charlotte in which Tanesha Washington scored a career-high 27 points. Robin Murphy chipped in 11 points while Pauline Love grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Love continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding with 16.7 points and 13.6 rebounds per game and Washington is averaging 12.3 points per outing.
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 65.3 points and 41.3 rebounds per game while shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 67.7 percent from the line.
Belmont has not played since Dec. 5 when the Bruins lost to Mercer, 98-69, dropping to 5-2 on the year. Kristin Bunch led the way with 16 points with Rachel Swisher and Amber Rockwell adding 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Rockwell leads three players in double figure scoring at 13.1 points followed by Haley Nelson with 12 and Bunch at 11.4 points per outing. Nelson also leads the team with 12.0 rebounds per game.
Coach Tony Cross is in his 26th season at Belmont and returns four starters from last year's team that finished 18-13.
The Bruins average 67.0 points and 41.6 rebounds per game while shooting 36.4 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free throw line. Nine different players have connected on at least one three-pointer.
This is the first meeting between the two teams.
Following the Belmont game, the Lady Eagles return home to host Arkansas-Little Rock on Dec. 22 at 7 p.m., before taking a break for the Christmas Holiday.
