HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss continued game preparation for its eight consecutive bowl game Tuesday afternoon for its R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl opponent, Middle Tennessee, Sunday night in the Louisiana Superdome.
Second-year coach Larry Fedora continues to be pleased with the team's pre-bowl workouts heading into the matchup this weekend and said after the one hour, 45 minute practice Tuesday at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium that the team knows what it takes to get ready to play in the postseason.
"We have guys who understand what is expected and what it takes to win a bowl game," Fedora said. "There are guys out here who are preparing for their fifth consecutive bowl (in their careers)."
Fedora also said the team is in good health as they enter this weekend's game versus the Blue Raiders.
"At this point we are pretty health and I expect everyone to play except for the three guys who are out for the year," Fedora added, as senior Michael McGee and sophomore Austin Davis are two of the players who have been lost for the year with injuries.
The Golden Eagles will practice once more on campus, Wednesday morning, before heading to New Orleans in the afternoon. The team will practice Thursday and Friday at Tulane and will also go through other team activities prior to the 7:30 p.m., contest on Dec. 20.
The game can be heard on the Southern Miss ISP Sports Network and also seen via ESPN and online at ESPN360.
