Captains for Southern Miss were freshman running back Tracey Lampley, junior tight end Jonathan Massey, Defensive End Roshaad Byrd and offensive lineman Micah Brown. Southern Miss won the toss and deferred to the second half

For QB Austin Davis it was his 12th consecutive game with a TD pass and the 17th in the last 18 games.
Davis started the game with nine consecutive completions spread over the first four drives, which a career best to start a game. The nine completions totaled 106 yards. He threw for six consecutive completions twice to start a game against Alcorn State (2009) and Arkansas State (2008).
Senior Justin Estes' 49 yard field goal at the end of the second half was a career long, it was the longest made field goal since Britt Barefoot's 51 yard kick on Sept. 8, 2007 at Tennessee
Tonight was only the second time under Fedora (18 games) that the Golden Eagle defense did not force a turnover
Senior receiver Gerald Baptiste reeled in a career high eight receptions that went for 74 yards
Pierce caught his second TD pass of the game in the fourth quarter, a 20 yard reception from Davis, putting him over 100 yards receiving for the first time in his career.
Davis threw for over 200 yards for the 13th time is his career with 234 yards passing tonight
Southern Miss held UAB to 245 yards of total offense, which is the fifth lowest total under Fedora
The Southern Miss defense held UAB to 23 yards passing, 21 of which came on one play, a TD pass to in the third quarter
