Men's Tennis Player Ranked Among Nation's Best

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Freshman Patricio Alvarado (Manta, Ecuador) is ranked among the best in the nation in singles, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings of 2009 that were announced this week.

Alvarado, who earned a ranking of 100, finished the fall with a 12-4 record in singles play. He is one of 16 players in Conference USA garnering a preseason ranking.

The Golden Eagles open the season Jan. 31 against Alcorn State at 10 a.m., followed by a match against Southern University at 2 p.m.
