HATTIEBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Women's Basketball Head Coach Joye Lee-McNelis announced the hiring of Caitlin Doyle as Director of Basketball Operations for the Lady Eagle program. This hiring is subject to approval by the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning.
"We are excited about having Caitlin as part of our Lady Eagle Family," McNelis said. "I've been fortunate enough to know Caitlin since she was in the fifth grade. It's been fun to follow her basketball career and see the success she has had. Her organizational skills and experience she has gained while working with the Memphis Redbirds is going to benefit us. She comes from a good family and I believe she will be an excellent addition to the staff."
Doyle comes to Southern Miss after spending a season with the Memphis Redbirds as a marketing assistant. While there, she assisted the director of marketing and promotions, special events coordinator, served as coordinator of Redbird's Sonic Kid's Club, created and executed in-game promotions and entertainment and served as a guest consultant.
Prior to joining the Memphis Redbirds, Doyle worked with the Stuart C. Irby, Co., in Jackson, Miss., as a marketing intern for one year writing press releases, articles and promotional pieces, in addition to contributing to production of the quarterly company magazine and assisting marketing consultants on large corporate promotions, projects and special events.
Doyle earned her bachelor's degree from Mississippi College in 2007 in communications, where she earned a letter in basketball. In addition to playing basketball, she also worked in the sports information department, assisting with productions of media guides, game day activities, interviewing of coaches and athletes for shows and internet sports network.
Doyle played for basketball and ran cross country at Millsaps for two seasons. She is the daughter of Michael and Lane Doyle of Memphis, Tenn.
