HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Head coach Corky Palmer announced today that Kameron Brunty has signed his letter of intent and grant in aid to play for the Golden Eagles next season.
Brunty is All-American outfielder from Gulf Breeze High School in Florida who played for coach Randy Renfroe.
"Kameron is a good left-handed hitting outfielder that will add some team speed for us next season," head coach Corky Palmer said.
He is 6'2 outfielder who was selected as an Under Armour Pre-season All American prior to the start of his senior campaign this year. He hit .517 as a junior with nine doubles, five triples and three home runs, scoring 39 runs and collecting 39 RBI while earning first team all-area honors.
Brunty was rated as one of the top 100 players in the talent loaded state of Florida as a fast outfielder with a good arm that can hit for power, he should compete for playing time immediately next season.
Southern Miss has now signed eight players for the 2009 season including high schoolers Travis Graves (Sunnyvale, Texas) , Jake Hawkins (Sumrall, Miss./Sumrall HS), Paxton King (Brookhaven, Miss./Brookhaven HS), Chad Poe (Simpson, La.) and B.A. Vollmuth (Biloxi, Miss./Biloxi HS), along with two junior college players, Scott Copeland (White Oak, Texas) and Taylor Walker (Senatobia, Miss.).
