Women's Basketball Team Travels To UALR

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- The Southern Miss women's basketball team plays its fourth game on the road when the Lady Eagles travel to Arkansas-Little Rock for a 7 p.m. game.
The game will be broadcast over WXHB-FM 96.5 with the new "Voice of the Lady Eagles" Josh West providing play-by-play action with former coach Kay James as the color analyst.
Southern Miss (3-3) is coming off a 61-51 loss to Michigan in the championship game of the Lady Eagle Classic. Pauline Love and Tanesha Washington were named to the all-tournament team for their respective performances. Washington scored a season-high 15 points against the Wolverines and Love added 10 points.
Love leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 11.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while Stephanie Helgeson is averaging 10.5 points.
In six games, Southern Miss is averaging 67.0 points and 40.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 44.5 percent from the field and 69.8 percent from the line. The Lady Eagles have connected on 22-of-77 from behind the arc.
UALR is 4-1 after a 56-53 win over Conference USA member Rice. In that game, Chastity Reed led the way with a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds and Anshel Cooper tallied 12 points.
Cooper leads the Trojans in scoring, averaging 18.6 points, while Chastity Reed leads the team in rebounding at 9.2 boards per game. The Trojans are forcing their opponents into 22.0 turnovers per game, while averaging 10.2 steals. UALR has not allowed a team to score over 60 points. As a team, UALR is averaging 63.0 points and 32.0 rebounds while shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 61.4 percent from the line. Head Coach Joe Foley is entering his sixth season at the helm of the Trojan program.

Following the UALR game, Southern Miss returns home to play cross-town opponent, William Carey, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m.
