Brown Selected First-Team Freshman All-American

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss wide receiver DeAndre Brown was selected by rivals.com as a first-team All-American, the website announced today.
Brown, who was tabbed the Conference USA Freshman of the Year by the Sporting News, led the Golden Eagles with a 66-catch season for 1,108 yards and 12 touchdowns. All three statistics are freshman records at the school, while his reception total ranks tied for a single-season school mark.
This is the second freshman All-America honor for the Ocean Springs, Miss., native. The first team receivers for the rivals.com team consisted of A.J. Green of Georgia and Julio Jones of Alabama along with Brown.
Brown and the Golden Eagles play in their seven-straight postseason appearance this weekend when they play Troy in the eighth annual R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
