Southern Miss Announces New Orleans Bowl Pep Rally

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss Department of Athletics and the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl have finalized the schedule of events leading up to the 2008 New Orleans Bowl in the Louisiana Superdome on December 21.
Included in those events is a pep rally which will give Golden Eagle fans the opportunity to interact with the entire football team the night before the 2008 New Orleans Bowl.
On Saturday, Dec. 20, the Southern Miss Department of Athletics invites all fans to join Head Coach Larry Fedora along with the Southern Miss coaching staff and players, The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, Southern Miss Cheerleaders, and Seymour to the official team pep rally at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside, in the Grand Salon on the first floor, beginning at 5:30 p.m. This event is open to the public and free of charge.
"I urge all Southern Miss fans in New Orleans to join us for this special pep rally," Southern Miss Director of Athletics Richard Giannini said. "This will be a great opportunity for our fans to show their excitement and support to Coach Fedora and the team for their accomplishments this season."
At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, fans are encouraged to meet in the lobby of the New Orleans Hilton Riverside, at the conclusion of the pep rally and join a second-line parade to the New Orleans Bowl Fan Fest on Fulton Street, where fans can enjoy live music, food and drinks. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Food and drinks at the event will be available for purchase from area vendors.

The New Orleans Bowl will host a luncheon on Friday, Dec. 19 at the Marriott Hotel featuring former NFL MVP and current NFL analyst Marshall Faulk, who was born and raised in New Orleans, as the keynote speaker. The luncheon will begin at noon and is open to the general public, tickets are available through the New Orleans bowl website: newoleansbowl.com.
On Sunday, Dec. 21 the House of Blues in New Orleans is hosting a chairman's brunch featuring a gospel choir and all-you can eat southern style buffet. For tickets contact the House of Blues at 504.310.4999.
The Southern Miss Alumni Association with host `The Southern Miss New Orleans Bowl Blowout' on the east side of the Louisiana Superdome at the Gate C bridge, beginning at 4:30 p.m. A battle of the bands, featuring the Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, will begin at 5:00 p.m. This event is open to the public and tickets are available through the Southern Miss ticket office for $20 per person, which includes food and beverages.
The events conclude with the 2008 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Tickets are still available though the Southern Miss ticket office.
