Men's Golf Announces Signing of Brent Hobbs

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss men's golf coach Jerry Weeks announced the signing of Brent Hobbs of Mesa, Ariz., to a national letter-of-intent for the 2008-09 season, Wednesday morning.

Hobbs will begin play in the spring season.

"I look forward to Brent joining us this spring," said Weeks. "I fully expect him to come in and make an immediate impact".

Hobbs joins Southern Miss after spending two years at Mesa Community College. Last year, Hobbs had a 74.1 stroke average. He finished seventh in regionals, before earning a 12th-place finish at nationals. Hobbs was named Second Team All-Region and an Honorable Mention All-American.

At Mesa HS, Hobbs went to the state tournament his junior and senior years. As a senior, he won the Tucson Spring Classic as well as the Spring Stableford Tournament.
