HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Blessed Trinity's Lauren Judson signed a National Letter of Intent on November 13 to play golf for the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles in fall 2009. The signing is a culmination of a stellar career as a high school and junior golfer.
Judson is a 4-year member of Blessed Trinity's girls varsity golf team and has been team captain since her sophomore year. In 2008, Judson led Blessed Trinity to the brink of the Georgia AAA State Championship as the team finished second to Ware County losing on the third hole of a sudden death playoff. Judson placed 5th individually in the state overall and helped lead the team to the Georgia AAA Region 5 championship. She was named to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution 2008 All-Northside team. In 2007, Judson was medalist in the Georgia AAA Region 5 tournament and led Blessed Trinity to the region champion. She was Co-MVP of the team in 2008 and 2007 and won the Coach's Leadership Award both years.
Judson has been equally impressive in her junior golf career. She was named 2007 Most Improved Woman Golfer in the Georgia by Golf Digest magazine. In addition to winning several individual championships on the Atlanta Junior Golf and All-American Junior Golf tours, she has numerous Top 5 and Top 10 finishes on the Georgia PGA Junior Tour, the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour, and the Future Collegians World Tour. In summer 2008, Judson qualified to play in two American Junior Golf Association events and played in the USGA Junior Girls qualifier at Saucier, MS.
Judson chose Southern Mississippi over offers from Eastern Kentucky University, Centenary College of Louisiana, and several others. She plans to major in Forensic Science.
