Southern Miss v. UAB Game Notes November 1, 2008 M.M. Roberts Stadium
* Captains for Southern Miss were linebacker Tokumbo Abanikanda, running back Damion Fletcher and linebacker Jeremy Snowden.
* Today's attendance was 29,147.
* Southern Miss is now 9-0 against UAB, and 4-0 against the Blazers in Hattiesburg.
* Southern Miss is now 64-24 all-time in Conference USA play, including a 33-12 record at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium.
* The win snaps a five-game losing streak, as well as a six-game conference home losing streak.
* This was the 73rd homecoming contest for Southern Miss, and they are now 54-18
* The Golden Eagles' 70 points are the most ever scored in a Conference USA game. The previous high was 59 against Tulane in 2001.
* It is also the highest point total at M.M. Roberts Stadium, and tied for the second highest in school history. It is also just the fourth time they have scored 70-plus points.
* Southern Miss' 49 first half points are the most points ever in a half, surpassing the 45 scored against UCF in 2005.
* The nine rushing touchdowns tied a school-record. Southern Miss also scored nine against Cal- State Fullerton in 1975.
* The ten total touchdowns are the second most ever in a game.
* Junior running back Damion Fletcher rushed for 86 yards, giving him 1,055 yards on the year and 4,029 for his career. It makes him the first Golden Eagle to rush for 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons, and the first to surpass 4,000 yards.
* Fletcher's 69-yard run in the first quarter was a career long and the second longest play of the year for the Golden Eagles.
* Freshman quarterback Austin Davis accounted for 222 yards, throwing for 141 yards and rushing for 81.
* Davis set a school record with five rushing touchdowns. He now has eight rushing scores on the year.
* Davis and freshman wide receiver DeAndre Brown connected on a 60-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. It was the eighth connection between the two of at least 36 yards.
* The pass was Davis' 16th touchdown, setting a new Southern Miss freshman record, surpassing Brett Favre's 15 touchdown passes in 1987.
* It was also Brown's 10th touchdown reception. Brown caught three passes for 97 yards.
* Southern Miss' one-play, nine second touchdown drive in the third quarter was the shortest of the year on both accounts.
* Junior running back Tory Harrison rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns.
* Harrison's three touchdowns give him seven on the season.
* Harrison's 69-yard touchdown run was the longest rush of his career, as well as the longest touchdown run for the Golden Eagles on the season.
* It is the first time this season the Golden Eagles had two players with three-plus rushing touchdowns.
* Sophomore running back V.J. Floyd rushed for a career-high 113 yards and one touchdown. The one-yard score was his first career.
* This is the third time this season, and 14th time ever, that the Golden Eagles had two players rush for 100-plus yards. Austin Davis (121) and Damion Fletcher (100) did it against Memphis, while Fletcher (222) and Bubba Kirksey (110) did it against UL-Lafayette.
* The three times is the most times ever in a season.
* Junior defensive back Andre Watson recorded his first career fumble recovery. Watson also intercepted his second pass of the year.
* The Golden Eagles' 28 first quarter points were the most in any quarter this year.
* Redshirt junior defensive back Eddie Hicks intercepted his second pass of the year and sixth of his career.
* Senior linebacker Tokumbo Abanikanda intercepted his first pass of the season and second of his career.
* Redshirt sophomore defensive back Justin Wilson intercepted his second pass of the season and fourth of his career.
* Redshirt freshman Micah Pellerin recovered his first career fumble in the fourth quarter.
* Senior offensive lineman Ryan McKee started his 36th consecutive game to lead the offensive line.
