- Tonight's captains for Southern Miss were No. 1 Shawn Nelson, No. 24 Gerald McRath and No. 83 Johdrick Morris. Southern Miss won the toss and deferred to the second half. Southern Miss defended the south end zone in the first quarter.
- Senior right offensive tackle Ryan McKee started his 35th straight game for the Golden Eagles.
- Austin Davis recorded his longest rush of the season - a 70-yard keeper - that setup the Golden Eagles' first field goal.
- Britt Barefoot connected on his fifth field goal of the season at the 10:08 mark of the second quarter, snapping a streak of two missed kicks over the previous pair of games.
- Anthony Gray recorded his team-leading fifth sack in the first quarter.
- Austin Davis hooked up with DeAndre Brown for a 59-yard pass, setting up the Golden Eagles' first touchdown one play later. The duo has combined for seven connections of 36 yards or more this season.
- Tory Harrison recorded his fourth rushing touchdown of the year in the second quarter and 11th of his career.
- Gerald McRath recorded his second fumble of the season and third of his career in the third quarter.
- Austin Davis became the fifth Southern Miss quarterback to throw for over 2,000 yards in a season when he completed an eight-yard TD pass to DeAndre Brown in the third quarter. It is the ninth time over a Golden Eagle has thrown 2,000 yards in a season. The others were Jeff Kelly (3/1999, 2000, 2001), Lee Roberts (2/1997, 1998), Brett Favre (2/1988, 1989) and Dustin Almond (1/2005).
- Davis and DeAndre Brown connected for their eighth TD combination on an eight-yard scoring play in the third quarter.
- Damion Fletcher moved into second place by himself with career rushing touchdowns at the school with 33, moving ahead of Harold Shaw.
- Fletcher recorded his school-best 20th career 100-yard game with 100 yards.
- Davis recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game with 121 yards.
- It was the second time this season the Golden Eagles had two rushers go over the 100-yard mark. The other time came against UL Lafayette as Fletcher tallied 222 and Bubba Kirksey had 110 yards against the Ragin' Cajuns.
- Gerald McRath tallied his fifth double-digit tackle with 16 stops and 18 career 10-plus tackle contests.
