Bay St. Louis, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team shot a 313 to sit in sixth place at the LDR Investments Lady Colonel Intercollegiate. The tournament is hosted by Nicholls State University and is played at the Bridges Golf Club in Bay St. Louis, Miss.
Sophomore Virginia Espejo posted a five-over 77 to tie for 15th-place with five other golfers.
Sophomore Jennifer Judge is tied for 21st-place after shooting a 78. Junior Clara Viladomiu and senior Heather Golden tied for 26th-place after shooting a 79, while junior Samantha Holt shot an 86 to sit in 47th-place.
Lamar's Therese Nilsson, McNeese State's Maggie Welch and Amanda Carmona are tied for the lead with a one-over 73.
Sam Houston State leads the team competition with a ten-over 298. McNeese State is four shots back (302) in second place. Host school Nicholls State and Lamar are tied for third with 309 strokes. Samford is in fifth with 311 strokes, while Southern Miss finished with 313 strokes to sit in sixth. South Alabama is in seventh after shooting a 315, followed by Troy (322), Jackson State (334) and Centenary (339).
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final 18. Play tees-off with an 8 a.m. shot gun start.
