During the 2007 NFL Europa season, SouthernMiss.com will bring you exclusive insight into former Golden Eagle football player Jeremy Parquet's travels overseas as a member of the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa as he checks in weekly with former Southern Miss alumni, Joe Trahan, who will also be in Germany covering the team and Parquet.
Jeremy Parquet signing in. This is my last blog, guys. First of all I want to thank God for allowing me to express my feelings, emotions and what's going on in my life to you; second I want to thank my wife, my family and my fans for all the support you've been giving me during this process; third of all I want to thank Joe Trahan who's really helped me out over here in Europe as far as just seeing to it that everything that I needed I had and as far as blogs helping along with it, so I want to give Joe Trahan a shout out and I appreciate you, big homie!
We made it happen y'all - we're in the World Bowl XV in Frankfurt, Germany going against the Frankfurt Galaxy. We are the number one team in the league (after having the best regular season record at 7-3), but it feels like we're getting treated like we're the number two team, but we're not worried about it. We're going to go ahead and give Frankfurt their money's worth. It's going to be a real exciting game, so you definitely want to be by a TV at 1 p.m. Eastern Saturday live on the NFL Network.
There's a whole bunch of trash talk that's been going on out here. There's a d-lineman from Frankfurt - who I don't even want to speak his name - but he's been in NFL Europa for like 12 years. So it was in the paper yesterday that he just called me out and said that I was the weak link of the offensive line, so that's extra motivation, but at the same time - who is he? I guess he's upset because we played him twice before and I guess I've been beating up on him a little too much and he didn't like it. Yep - I'm talking a little trash, but it's my last blog and I've got to get that off my chest. We got to practice yesterday and they had my picture on a trash can like I was trash!
So it really is serious, and this game is definitely one that you want to check out. It's going to be very interesting and a very good game to watch if you're a fan of football.
I got some good news today that I made the All-NFL Europa team, so that's a good look. 10 games and I haven't allowed a sack, so I've been doing alright. But this last game is very important to me. This whole Europe thing has been fun and I really enjoyed myself over here in Europe experiencing new cultures and new people and seeing how different people. It's been very interesting to me because growing up in Louisiana in the South, I've been places but as far as living somewhere else - this is really my first time actually being away from home this long. But I've thoroughly enjoyed being here and it truly has been a good experience.
Again, I appreciate my family, friends and God and all the fans for your support and for reading this blog once a week. Like I said, this game this weekend is huge. Check it out - number 73, All-NFL Europa. It's going down. Y'all be cool.
-Jeremy
