HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Freshmen Samantha Holt (Pensacola, Fla.) and Rebecka Nilsson (Laholm, Sweden) each fired a 78 as both Southern Miss golfers tied for 25th in the 54-hole Conference USA Championship, Wednesday, which concluded at the par-72, 6,161-yard Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Ala.

The Lady Eagles finished eighth in the nine-team field as they shot a final-round 318 as a team, missing seventh place behind Marshall by just one stroke.

Holt and Nilsson each finished the three rounds with a stroke total of 241, while junior Jennifer Bodemann (Palm City, Fla.) notched an 80 to finish tied for 29th in the event with a 244 total.

Freshman Clara Viladomiu (Barcelona, Spain) collected a final-round 82 to end the three-day event with a 248 and a 36th-place tie, while sophomore Heather Golden (Biloxi, Miss.) took a 41st-place tie with an 86 in her final round for 253 total.

UTEP's Gerina Mendoza won the individual title after completing the event with a minus-nine 207, including a 71 on the final day and beating Memphis' Stacey Tate by five strokes, who compiled a 68 in her final round, Wednesday.

Memphis (912) won the team title after shooting a 305 in the final circuit, beating East Carolina by two strokes (914). UTEP, UCF and SMU battled for a three-way tie for third with a tournament stroke total of 922, followed by Tulsa (935), Marshall (966), Southern Miss (967) and host UAB (984).

The tournament ends the 2006-07 season for the Lady Eagles.
