Men's Tennis Team Downs Samford, 6-1

BROOKHAVEN, Miss. -- - The men's tennis team ran its winning streak to three, following a 6-1 win over Samford Friday afternoon in Brookhaven, Miss.
Southern Miss improved to 7-6, while Samford dropped to 8-6.
"I thought Andrew played very well today," Head Coach Teddy Viator said. "We had some consistent play at the bottom of our lineup."
Southern Miss opened the match by winning the doubles' point. Andrew Poole and Markus Wessinghage defeated Sam Huffman and Sam Roche, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles. Diego and Oscar Machuca defeated Brian Dushock and Kelwin De Wet in a close match at No. 3 doubles, 8-6, earning the point. Samford's Stuart Misner and Hank Grant downed Domagoj Anic and Callen Fraychineaud at No. 2 doubles', 8-3.
The Golden Eagles lost only one singles' match, at No. 3 when Huffman defeated Diego Machuca, 6-4, 6-1.
Southern Miss got wins at No. 1 singles, Poole defeated Misner, 7-5, 6-2; Anic downed Manuel Miletic, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5); Oscar Machuca defeated Hank Grant at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2; Wessinghage defeated Dushock, 6-3, 6-0; and Strate Krstevski defeated De Wet, 7-5, 6-3, at No. 6 singles.
Southern Miss returns to action, taking on Nicholls State at 11 a.m., Saturday in Brookhaven.
