HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Louisiana-Monroe took advantage of Southern Miss' pitching struggle to record two runs in the sixth inning and four in the seventh, downing the Lady Eagles 7-1, today, at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.
Heather Williams got the sixth inning started for ULM, hitting a double to right center and stealing third. Southern Miss pitcher Shea Naramore walked three-consecutive batters to send Williams home and load the bases for Heather Hanson, who singled to right field to score Calli Baker and give the WarHawks a 3-1 lead.
In the seventh inning, Jamie Liles singled to center field, advanced to second on a walk from Williams, advanced to third on a walk from Megan Miller and scored on a walk from Lindsey Taylor. Williams scored on the next play, tagging up after Baker fouled out to Brandi Alonzo, and Michelle Farrell-Fink notched two RBIs, hitting her second double of the game to score Taylor and Miller.
