Louisiana Tech Edges Lady Eagles, 1-0

BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Tech's Amberly Waits singled to right field to score Ashley Cameron and give the Lady Techsters the 1-0 victory over Southern Miss, today, in the final competition of LSU's Easton Purple & Gold Challenge.
Both Southern Miss (4-9) and Louisiana Tech (11-9) remained scoreless until the seventh inning. The Lady Eagles left eight runners on base, while the Lady Techsters stranded six.
Tech had the bases loaded in the top of the first inning with only one out, but the Lady Eagles were able to end the inning when Shea Naramore struck out Summer Young and catcher Kristin Pilgrim connected with second baseman Lauren Castellvi to pick off Regan Clark at first base.
Southern Miss loaded the bases with no outs in the second inning, before Brittany Wright struck out and Allison Bullard lined into a double play to end the inning.
The Lady Eagles finished the game with five, two from Brandi Alonzo and one each from Castellvi, Pilgrim and Bullard.
Freshmen Megan Hill and Alonzo received all-tournament honors.
Southern Miss returns to action at home on Wednesday, February 28, taking on Louisiana-Monroe in a doubleheader, beginning at 5 p.m.
