Softball Shutout by Nationally-Ranked LSU, 4-0

BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU's Killian Roessner hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to score Vanessa Soto and give the nationally-ranked Lady Tigers the lead in Southern Miss' 4-0 loss, today, at Tiger Park in the Purple & Gold Classic.
Quinlan Duhon began the fourth inning with a triple to right field, before reaching home on Soto's double to left center. Following Roessner's home run, the Lady Eagles were able to stop LSU with two runners remaining on base.
The Lady Tigers added one more run in the fifth inning, when Duhon was hit by a pitch and sent home on Roessner's two-out double to center field.
Southern Miss (3-6) finished the game with only one hit, while LSU (12-1) recorded seven hits and one error.
The Lady Eagles return to action in the Purple & Gold Classic on Saturday, competing against Louisiana Tech at 9 a.m. and LSU at 1:30 p.m.
