Women's Golf Opens Play at UAB Fall Beach Blast

GULF SHORES, Ala. - Three Southern Miss women's golfers shot an eight over par 80 in the first round to lead the Golden Eagles in the UAB Fall Beach Blast, being played at The Pensacola Golf and Racquet Club.
Rebecka Nilsson, Heather Golden and Clara Viladomiu all shot first round eight-over par 80 to tie for 38th-place.
Virginia Espejo is tied for 46th-place after shooting a ten-over 82, while Samantha Holt shot a 12-over 84.
Angela Drane of Louisiana-Monroe leads the tournament by shooting a three-under 69. She is one of three players to shoot under par. East Carolina's Amber Littman is in second-place shooting a two-under 70, while Sara Larsson of Louisiana-Monroe is in third after shooting a 71.
East Carolina leads the team scoring with 291 overall strokes. Louisiana-Monroe is in second with 297 strokes, while UT-San Antonio sits in third with 305 strokes. UT-Pan American is in fourth at 306, followed by Samford at 308, Columbia at 311, Jacksonville State at 312, Arkansas-Little Rock at 314, Indiana State at 315, Southern Miss at 322, Eastern Kentucky at 324, Lipscomb at 325, Marshall at 327 and UAB at 334.
The tournament concludes Tuesday morning with the final 18. Play begins at 8:00 a.m.
