Lady Eagles Continues Road Swing, Plays Jacksonville State

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Southern Miss women's basketball team looks to get back on the winning track, playing its second road game when the Lady Eagles travel to Jacksonville State Saturday. Game time is set for a 2 p.m., tip and will be broadcasted over WXHB-FM 96.5 with the "Voice of the Lady Eagles" Jason Baker providing play-by-play action with former coach Kay James as the color analyst.
Southern Miss (6-1) is coming off a 77-56 loss at Mississippi State, snapping a six-game winning steak. Pauline Love recorded her fifth double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Amber Eugene and Erica Williams with nine points apiece.
Love continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Eugene is averaging 11.9 points.
As a team, the Lady Eagles are averaging 79.1 points and 41.9 rebounds, while shooting 49.0 percent from the field and 71.7 percent from the line. Southern Miss has connected on 37-of-104 threes for 35.6 percent.
Something About Jacksonville State Jacksonville State is 2-4, following a 72-65 win over Troy. Head Coach Becky Geyer is in her 2nd season at the helm of the Gamecock program. Geyer returns only four letterwinners, including one starter, from last year's squad that finished 7-21. Two JSU players are averaging in double figures, led by Jolie Efezokhae with 13.7 points and Eren McMichael is averaging 11.5 points. Cierra Duhart leads the team in rebounding at 7.4 boards per game. As a team, the Lady Gamecocks are averaging 64.2 points and 37.3 rebounds, while shooting 37.8 percent from the field and 69.0 percent from the line.
About The Series This is the third meeting between the two teams. Southern Miss owns a 2-0 lead. Southern Miss won last year's meeting with an 81-61 win over the Gamecocks.
Following the Jacksonville State game, Southern Miss returns home to host South Alabama, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.
