Men's Tennis Starts Crimson Tide Fall Championships Friday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss men's tennis team continues its fall schedule as part of a 22-team field in the Crimson Tide Fall Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala., this weekend. The tournament starts Friday, Oct. 27, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 29.
Along with host and 2007 NCAA Sweet 16 team, Alabama, other teams in the field include the 2006 NCAA Champion, Pepperdine, along with the 2007 NCAA runner-up, Illinois, one 2007 NCAA semifinalist in Virginia, and one NCAA Elite Eight team in NC State.
The tournament features seven singles brackets of 16 accompanied by seven consolation brackets for first round losers, and four doubles brackets of 16. In the consolation round, all third sets will be scored on a 10 point system. All doubles matches will be pro sets.
The Crimson Tide Fall Championships kicks off Friday with one round of singles followed by two rounds of doubles. Saturday all participants will play two rounds of singles followed by one round of doubles. Sunday the tournament will end with the final rounds of singles and doubles. All matches will begin at 9:00 a.m.
