Lady Eagle Volleyball Falls To Tulane, 3-0

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- - Southern Miss volleyball team fell to Tulane in three games by a score of 30-17, 30-24, 30-22, Sunday afternoon, falling to 10-16 on the season and 1-9 in league play.
Morgan Johnson led Southern Miss with 14 kills, while Amy Flarity and Maia Ivanova recorded 11 digs apiece.
Sara Radosevic led Tulane with a match-high 20 kills, followed by Ksenija Vlaskovic and Bridget Wells with 17 and 12 kills, respectively. Jenn Miller led the Green Wave with 18 digs. Vlaskovic and Luna Rebrovic had 11 digs each.
Tulane took control of game one early, jumping out to a 20-8 lead. The Green Wave out-hit Southern Miss .474-to-.188, recording 22 kills and only four attack errors. Tulane won game one, 30-17.
Both teams battled early in game two that featured six ties. Tulane used an 8-3 run, breaking a 6-6 tie and taking a 14-9 lead. Southern Miss improved its offensive output, recording 17 kills and hit .229. Southern Miss stayed close, cutting the lead to three, 26-23, but Tulane closed out the game on a 4-1 run for a 30-24 win.
Game three started the same as game two, with both teams battling early. With the game tied, 7-7, Vlaskovic served five straight points in which the Green Wave blocked three attack attempts by the Eagles for points. Tulane pushed its lead to eight, 23-15, before Southern Miss put together a 5-1 run to get within four points, 24-20. Tulane then closed out the game with a 6-2 run for a 30-22 win.
Southern Miss returns to volleyball action on Friday and Sunday for a weekend series against Memphis and UAB.
