*Southern Miss won the 10th meeting between the two teams to tie the overall series 5-5, while winning the first time in three tries in Hattiesburg over the Wolfpack.
*The Golden Eagles improved to 3-2 over schools from BSC leagues in Hattiesburg since the start of the 2001 season including wins over Oklahoma State (17-9 on 9/1/01) and Illinois (23-20 on 9/7/02) and losses to Nebraska (38-14 on 9/25/03) and California (26-16 on 12/4/04).
*Southern Miss won its third straight game at home and four of its last five.
*The Golden Eagles have scored at least 20 points in seven of their last eight games
*The crowd of 31,748 at M.M. Roberts Stadium was the 13th largest home crowd for Southern Miss in its history.
*George Batiste made his 38th straight start - the longest active streak for a Golden Eagle. The entire offensive line has made 101 starts.
*NC State is the first of two ACC opponents this year. The Golden Eagles play at Virginia Tech (Oct. 21). Overall, Southern Miss is 17-22-1 against the ACC including a 5-5 mark against NC State, 8-13-1 versus Florida State and 4-4 versus Virginia Tech.
* Jerome Lyons made his first start of his Golden Eagle career at middle linebacker. Lyons finished as the team's leading tackler with seven total (4 solo, 3 assists) and a pass break up.
* Freshman Damion Fletcher, who was making his second career start, scored his third, fourth and fifth career touchdowns, and fifth overall in the last two games. Fletcher's multiple TDs for the second straight time is the first time that has happened since Derrick Nix did it in three straight times coming against Jackson State, 8/31/02, Illinois 9/7/02, and Memphis 9/14/02).
*Fletcher's three rushing TDs is the most by a Golden Eagle since Derrick Nix and Anthony Harris tallied three running scores apiece against Jackson State on Aug. 31, 2002.
*Fletcher's rushing total of 177 yards is the third-most rushing yards by a Golden Eagle freshman. The top two are by former standout Derrick Nix who tallied 219 against Nevada (11/21/98) and 184 versus Memphis (11/14/98).
*Fletcher posted the first back-to-back 100-yard game for the Golden Eagles since Anthony Harris did it in 2003 against USF (16-102/1 TD) and Louisiana-Lafayette (16-130/1 TD).
*Jasper Faulk and Caleb Hendrix each notched their third career interception to mark the 20th time in the last 21 games Southern Miss has intercepted a pass as a team. Martavius Prince added his second career INT late in the contest to give the Golden Eagles three for the game, the most since they tallied four against USF on Oct. 2, 2004.
*Martavius Prince, the current leader in Conference USA coming into the game in tackles for loss, added another 1.5 tonight against NC State, giving him six for the season.
*Jeremy Young completed 13-of-19 passes for 181 yards. His passing yards were his career best for a game. He also added the second rushing TD of his career.
*Chanove rushed for a career-best 30 yards on three carries including a career-long carry of 23 in the third quarter.
*The Golden Eagles held the Wolfpack to 80 yards rushing as it was the first time that the Golden Eagles had limited an opponent to under 100 yards for a game since they limited UAB to 77 (Oct. 21, 2005).
