Baseball Ranked No. 29 by Collegiate Baseball

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - After posting a 4-1 record last week, the Southern Miss Baseball (31-16, 7-8 C-USA) team is ranked No. 29 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball, the first time it has entered the poll since the Feb. 6 poll when the Golden Eagles were No. 30 and the third time this season that they have appeared in that poll.
The Golden Eagles defeated No. 17 Mississippi State, 13-6, on Tuesday, and 6-3 on Wednesday, then dropped the first game of the weekend conference series, 6-3, at Marshall on Friday, before coming back to win Saturday's game, 19-4, and Sunday's game 5-0.
Rice (39-9) is ranked No. 2 in the nation, Houston is No. 10 and Tulane is No. 28 to place four Conference USA teams in the top 30. Baseball America ranks Rice, No. 1 and Houston, No. 15. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association ranks Rice No. 1, Houston at No. 16, Tulane at No. 17 and Southern Miss is receiving votes.
Southern Miss hosts East Carolina this weekend in a key Conference USA series for both teams. Friday's game starts at 6:30 p.m., Saturday's at 4 p.m., and Sunday's at 1 p.m.
