Women's Golf Set To Host Lady Eagle Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team hosts the final regular season tournament of the season -- the 2006 Lady Eagle Invitational, beginning Monday at the par-71, 6,109-yard course at Canebrake Country Club.
Nine other teams will join Southern Miss in the two-day tournament, 54-hole event, including Jackson State, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, New Orleans, Samford, South Alabama, Troy, UAB, and West Florida.
First round action is set for 7:30 a.m., and second round play begins immediately after. Third round is set for 7:30 a.m., Tuesday.
Southern Miss last competed in the Lady Seahawk Invitational, finishing 12th overall. In the event, Ashlea Deener (80-72-76--228) finished tied for 11th overall to lead Southern Miss. Johanna Kristiansson (80-80-83--243) and Jennifer Bodemann (79-89-84--243) both finished tied for 51st, while Nicole Mackey (79-79-89--247) was tied for 60th. Kate Burns rounded out the scoring with an 80-80-94--254.
In last season's Lady Eagle Invitational, Birmingham Southern finished with a team total of 879 to take the team title, while Southern Miss finished second.
Following this event, the Lady Eagles travel to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the 2006 Conference USA Championships.
