Washington Named C-USA Outdoor Athlete of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss' Raquel Washington shared Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Female Athlete of the Week honors with Tulane's Gloria Asumnu. This is the first C-USA honor of the season for Washington.
Washington, a senior from Gulfport, Miss., held her own against some of the nation's top hurdlers at the Texas Relays, winning her preliminary heat in 13.35 before turning in the nation's seventh-best time in the finals, clocking a 13.24. Washington also ran the second leg of the 4x100-meter relay team that posted a school-record time of 44.00, which currently tops the C-USA charts and ranks fifth nationally following the weekend.
