Women's Golf Takes Part In Lady Seahawk Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's golf team returns to action Monday, competing in the 2006 Lady Seahawk Invitational hosted by UNC-Wilmington at par 72, 6,073-yard at the River Landing Golf Club in Wallace, N.C.
The two-day, three-round tournament features 13 teams. Along with Southern Miss and host UNC-Wilmington, the field also includes Ball State, Birmingham Southern, Elon, East Tennessee State, James Madison, Kentucky, Maryland, Mercer, Newberry, Richmond and Western Carolina.
Monday's action will consist of two rounds of 18 holes in a shotgun start. Tuesday's final round action also will be a shotgun start.
The Lady Eagles, under the direction of Head Coach Julie Gallup, last competed in the Waterlefe Invitational, finishing tied for eighth. In the event, Ashlea Deener (78-79-82--239) led Southern Miss with a tie for 17th, while Nicole Mackey (77-80-89--246) finished tied for 29th. Johanna Kristiansson finished in a tie for 47th with an 83-86-86--255. Jennifer Bodemann (88-89-84--261) and Kate Burns (90-88-96--274) finished 58th and 68th, respectively.
Southern Miss has competed in three spring tournaments, with its best finish coming in the Baja Invitational at fourth place.
Following the tournament, Southern Miss takes a week off before hosting the Lady Eagle Classic at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss. The two-day tournament is set for April 10 and 11.
