HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Head Athletic Trainer Todd McCall has announced the hiring of Ana Gross as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
"We are extremely pleased to have Ana Gross join our athletic training staff," McCall said. "She has a good background in the field, after serving as a graduate assistant here at Southern Miss for the past two years. She knows our student athletes and I believe she will do well in a very demanding position, because of her qualifications and background."
Gross will serve as the primary athletic trainer for baseball. Her duties involve the care, rehabilitation and prevention of athletic injuries for the program.
She served as a Graduate Assistant at Southern Miss for two years, working with cross country/track, soccer and football.
A 2004 graduate of LSU with a bachelor's degree in athletic training, she worked with football (Sugar Bowl, 2004 National Champions) and women's basketball (2004 SEC Champions) at LSU, also aiding the Tiger athletic training staff at the 2003 Cotton Bowl. She also worked with the men's tennis program in 2003-04 and was the lead athletic trainer for the 2004 NCAA Men's Regional Tennis Tournament.
Gross, a native of New Orleans, La., is a certified member of NATA and will complete her master's degree in sports administration in May 2006. The oldest of five children, she is the daughter of Greg and Maria Gross.
