Women's Basketball Team Entertains UALR

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Southern Miss women's basketball team begins a two-game homestand, when the Lady Eagles host UALR, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.
The game will be broadcast over WXHB-FM 96.5 with the "Voice of the Lady Eagles" Jason Baker providing play-by-play action with former coach Kay James as the color analyst.
Southern Miss (3-5) is coming off its worst loss of the season, 88-37, at Wisconsin. Only one player scored in double-figure, Liz Biland, with 10 points. Biland and Chaney pulled down five rebounds apiece.
Emer Foley continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding at 17.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Eugene is averaging 15.8 points while Reed is averaging 14.6 points.
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 64.5 points and 40.6 rebounds per game while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 74.0 percent from the line. The Lady Eagles are shooting 40.2 percent from three-point range.
UALR (5-2) is coming off a 65-48 win over Texas-San Antonio. Jocelyn Love the Trojans 20 points and nine rebounds.
Kim Sitzmann leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.3 points, while Nikya Hughes leads the team in rebounding, 9.1 per game. Love is second on the team in scoring at 13.6 points.
As a team, the Trojans are averaging 66.6 points and 36.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 64.0 percent from the line.
Following the UALR game, Southern Miss hosts in-state rival, Mississippi State, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m.
Something About UALR UALR is 5-2 on the season following a 65-48 win over Texas-San Antonio. Head Coach Joe Foley is in his fifth season at UALR and returns four starters from last year's team that posted a 13-15 record. Three players average in double figures, led by Kim Sitzmann at 14.3 points followed by Jocelyn Love at 13.6 and Renee Renz at 10.0 points per game. Nikya Hughes leads the team in rebounding at 9.1 boards per game. As a team, the Trojans are averaging 66.6 points and 36.4 rebounds per game while shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 64.0 percent from the line with three players shooting 70 percent or better. UALR are allowing only 50.7 points and 33.1 rebounds per game.
