Postgame Quotes -
Southern Miss Head Coach Jeff Bower
"I liked the way we came out and played offense. We did a good job. We scored on five out of six drives in the first half. I thought we got sloppy on offense in the second half and didn't make some plays when we had some receivers open. It was a good win for our football team. We really needed that."
"Jeremy (Young) made some nice throws for us. We had some big plays in the half, and that's something we haven't had all year long. We may have played as many big plays in the first half as we have all year. We knew we had to be effective throwing the football, and I think we were."
"He (Tory Harrison) ran really well. When he was in there it seemed like he had the better holes to go through. I thought he ran the ball really well."
"We needed a win. We get a little confidence and do some things better and jump into this next ballgame. Hopefully we feel a little better about ourselves this week."
Memphis Head Coach Tommy West
"I give Southern Miss a lot of credit. I thought they played really well. We are a team that is obviously struggling.
We cannot go out and let them score the first three times they get the ball and expect to be in it with a good team. I give our kids credit in the second half because they battled hard."
"Our defense and kicking game is killing us right now. The field position is horrible and we don't play good defense. We have to keep trying to do a better job than what we are doing right now."
"I had to get out of our defense to be honest with you. We could not cover Southern Miss. In college football you have to play man three. You have to put more people in the box to play the run and I had to get out of it. We busted on the first series and did not take the tight end. I lost confidence that we could not cover them."
