Women's Basketball Team Plays At Wisconsin

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - The Southern Miss women's basketball team plays the second of two straight road games when the Lady Eagles travel to Madison, Wis., to face Wisconsin.
The game will be broadcast over WXHB-FM 96.5 with the "Voice of the Lady Eagles" Jason Baker providing play-by-play action with former coach Kay James as the color analyst.
Southern Miss (3-4) is coming off a 64-63 loss at Louisiana-Monroe. The Lady Eagles placed three players in double-figure scoring, led by Kendra Reed's 17 points, followed by Emer Foley with 16 and Amber Eugene with in 12. Foley and Eugene pulled down nine rebounds apiece.
Foley continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding at 19.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Eugene is averaging 15.8 points while Reed is averaging 15.6 points.
As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 68.4 points and 43.6 rebounds per game while shooting 44.5 percent from the field and 74.8 percent from the line. The Lady Eagles are shooting 41.7 percent from three-point range.
Southern Miss has played two other Big Ten teams in its history, Purdue and Ohio State.
Wisconsin (6-1) is coming off a 52-50 loss at UC Riverside. Danielle Ward posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Jolene Anderson leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Janese Banks is averaging 13.9 points
As a team, the Badgers are averaging 71.0 points and 39.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 67.8 percent from the line.
Following the Wisconsin game, Southern Miss returns home to two games on Dec. 7 against Arkansas-Little Rock and Dec. 10 against Mississippi State.
SOMETHING ABOUTWISCONSIN Wisconsin is off to one of its better starts. The Badgers come into the game with a 6-1 record. The loss at UC Riverside snapped a six-game win streak. The Badgers have two players averaging in double figures with Jolene Anderson at 15.3 points and Janese Banks at 13.9 points. Anderson had her string of 35-straight double-figure scoring games snapped, when she scored only five points against UC Riverside. As a team, the Badgers are averaging 71.0 points and 39.0 rebounds per game while shooting 44.2 percent from the field, including 36.6 percent from behind the three-point arc. Wisconsin is shooting 67.8 percent from the line with four players shooting 70 percent or better.
ABOUT THE SERIES AGAINST WISCONSIN This is the first meeting between the two teams. Southern Miss had played only two other Big Ten opponents, Purdue (0-2) and Ohio State (1-0).
