Eugene Earns Conference USA Player Of The Week Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- - Southern Miss Amber Eugene was named Conference USA Player of the Week following her three-game performance during the week. This is the second time in her career to receive C-USA Player of the Week honors.
Eugene averaged 21.0 points and 5.3 rebounds, while shooting 56.5 percent from the field and 61.1 percent from the line. She also recorded season-highs in points (26) and rebounds (11) against Grambling State, marking her fourth career double-double. She also had five assists and three steals in the win.
Southern Miss went 2-1 on the week with wins over Grambling State (87-64) and Eastern Kentucky (81-76), plus a tough loss to Jackson State (47-45) earlier in the week. Southern Miss won its La Quinta Inn Lady Eagle Classic for the 15th time.
Eugene scored 19 points in the championship game and was voted the Most Valuable Player in the Classic. She came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points in the loss against JSU earlier in the week.
Among players in more than one game last week, Eugene led the league with her 21.0 ppg. Overall, she averages 16.6 ppg which ranks tied for sixth best in C-USA.
