HATTIESURG, Miss. - * The Southern Miss game captains were No. 21 Jasper Faulk, No. 51 Stephen Daigle and No. 70 George Batiste.
* With the victory, the Golden Eagles won their first Conference USA East Division crown. The Eagles have won the league title four times since the league's inception in 1996 - 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2003. Southern Miss will face Houston the league's championship game next Friday on UH campus. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
* Conrad Chanove tallied his first career receiving touchdown on the Golden Eagles' first drive, with his 2-yard reception from Jeremy Young.
* Senior offensive lineman George Batiste made his 47th career start and the offensive line combined together now for 140 collective starting assignments.
* The Golden Eagles rushed for over 200 yards for the fourth straight game, marking the first time since the 1987 season that they have done that - coming against Louisville (10/3, 402), Florida State (10/10, 270), Mississippi State (10/17, 211) and Memphis (10/24, 237).
* Freshman Damion Fletcher recorded his freshman-record seventh 100-plus rushing game with 151 yards on a 25 carries, for an average of 6.0 yards per rush. He also became the school's all-time freshman rusher by surpassing Derrick Nix's 1,180 yards tallied in 1998. Fletcher has now rushed for 1,240 yards this season. His 151 yards is the eighth most in a game by a Southern Miss freshman, as he now owns four of the school's top 10 in the freshman category.
* The Golden Eagles won their eighth game for the first time since capturing nine contests (9-3) during the 2003 campaign. The Golden Eagles have won at least eight games now six times during the Jeff Bower era.
* Southern Miss has scored on its opening drive in six games this season, with touchdowns against Florida, Memphis, Tulane and Marshall, while kicking a field goal against North Carolina State and Virginia Tech.
* The Golden Eagles recorded their sixth non-offensive touchdown when Ladarius Webb blocked a first-quarter punt with Michael McGee falling on it in the end zone. Southern Miss has now scored a non-offensive touchdown in four of the last five games. The six non-offensive touchdowns tie for the most in a season in the Jeff Bower era with the 2000 and 2003 seasons.
* The blocked punt was the second by the Golden Eagles this season - the other coming from Robert Henderson against UCF.
* The Golden Eagles are 7-0 this season when they score at least 25 points in a game.
* Southern Miss averaged 32.8 points per contest in its six home games during the 2006 season and is now 60-16 at M.M. Roberts Stadium during the Bower era.
* Jeremy Young notched his third rushing touchdown of the season, on a one-yard run in the third quarter, and the third of his career. He also tallied his third multi-TD passing game with a pair of touchdown throws.
* The Golden Eagles forced their most turnovers this season and most since the North Carolina State (10/29) during the 2005 season.
* Bobby Weakley scored his third rushing touchdown on a one-yard run late in the contest. His 24 yards is a career-best for a game.
* The 36:36 time of possession is the most this season in a game for the Golden Eagles and the seventh time they have held the ball for more than 30 minutes in a game.
