Volleyball Team Falls To UAB In Three

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southern Miss volleyball team lost to UAB, 3-0 (30-28, 30-27, 30-19) in Conference USA action on Friday night.
Southern Miss dropped to 13-11 and 5-4, while UAB improved to 16-9 and 3-6. Mari Ruddick and Nicole Rock led the Eagles with seven kills apiece. Amanda Blunck recorded 12 digs.
The UAB players had double-digit kills with Fernada Domingos with 13, Ivana Bozic had 12 and Casey Dent added 11 kills. Bozic also had 16 digs.
UAB outscored Southern Miss 8-3 down the stretch, defeating Southern Miss 30-28. UAB fought back from a 10-6 deficit early.
UAB led early, but Southern Miss took a 17-12 lead after an 8-0 run. UAB fought back to tie the game at 21-21 before using a 10-4 run. UAB outscored Southern Miss 9-6 down the stretch, taking game two 30-27.
UAB broke a 4-4 tie, using a 19-5 run in wining game three, 30-19. Southern Miss finished game three with a -.033 attack percentage.
Southern Miss returns to action on Sunday, when the Lady Eagles play Memphis at 1 p.m.
