Southern Miss Postgame Notes For Houston Game - * Southern Miss captains for the game were No. 6 Brandon Sumrall, No. 24 Gerald McRath and No. 56 Robby D'Angelo.
* The win for Southern Miss improved its record in the series over Houston to 7-3, and 4-0 against the Cougars in Hattiesburg. It was the second time the Golden Eagles have beaten UH for homecoming - the other a 58-14 on Oct. 27, 2001.
* The Golden Eagles improved to 52-18 in homecoming games.
* The crowd of 32,317 was the 11th largest crowd in the history of M.M. Roberts Stadium.
* The win was the seventh in the last eight meetings for Southern Miss over Houston.
* It was the fourth straight win for the Golden Eagles at home as they improved to 3-0 at the Rock in 2006. Southern Miss is now 58-15 in home games under Jeff Bower.
* The Golden Eagles snapped a six-quarter string without scoring an offensive touchdown when Bobby Weakley's scored from one-yard with 10:48 left in the opening quarter. The last offensive TD for the Golden Eagles was a 54-yard completion from Jeremy Young to Chris Johnson in the second quarter at UCF.
*George Batiste made his 41st career start on the offensive line. The entire Golden Eagle offensive line has combined for 116 career starts.
* Conrad Chanove collected his first career start and collected a career-high 44 yards, bettering his previous high of 30 yards against NC State (9/16).
* Darren McCaleb had a string of six straight made field goals snapped when he missed a 39-yarder with 3:41 to go in the first quarter. McCaleb then added his ninth field goal in 12 attempts this season with a 39-yarder in the third quarter.
* Josh Barnes grabbed a 22-yard touchdown pass from Jeremy Young in the second quarter. It was Barnes' first TD catch of the season and sixth of his career. Barnes finished the night with five catches for 89 yards - both season highs. Barnes career bests came last season against UH, when he caught seven balls for 103 yards and 2 TDs.
* Jeremy Young's one-yard plunge with 10:47 left was his second rushing TD of the season and third of his career.
* Freshman Damion Fletcher had his string of four-straight 100-plus yard games snapped, but did rush for 80 yards on 21 carries. Fletcher missed the first half due to suspension for a curfew violation.
* Jeremy Young threw for 180 yards on 17-of-26 passing, marking the third time he had reached that number this season. The Golden Eagles are 3-0 when Young throws for at least 180 yards.
* Through the first three home games, the Golden Eagles are averaging 37.7 points a game.
*Southern Miss' defense held Houston to 38 yards rushing, marking the fewest yards the Golden Eagles defense has given up this season on the ground. The previous low was 77 against NC State.
* Jerome Lyons led the Golden Eagles with 11 tackles.
