Eubanks Named Preseason All-American By CollegeSportsReport.com

Eubanks, named as one of Conference USA?s Players to Watch on Monday, was tabbed second-team preseason All-American as a return specialist, marking the first time he has garnered preseason accolades as a return specialist this preseason.
The Mound Bayou, Miss., native has also earned Watch List honors for the Bednarik Award, given to the defensive player of the year, Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation?s best defensive back and Bronko Nagurski Trophy, given to the best defensive player in collegiate football.
Eubanks was a 2004 honorable mention All-American selection by collegefootballnews.com and SI.com, was also a first team All-Conference USA selection as a kick returner, earning league Special Teams Player of the Year honors. He returned 21 kickoff returns for 618 yards, averaging 29.4 per return, with one touchdown return, a 97-yard score against
He also had his best year defensively in 2004, posting career-highs in several categories, including total tackles with 47 (31 solos, 16 assists), three interceptions and nine deflected passes, earning first-team All-Conference
Southern Miss finished 7-5 in 2004, including a 5-3 mark in Conference
Incoming freshmen report to campus on Friday, Aug. 5, while the varsity arrives on campus on Monday, Aug. 8. The team will begin practice on Tuesday, Aug. 9.
The team opens its season Sunday, Sept. 4, in a 3 p.m., nationally televised ESPN2 contest against Tulane.
