Tankersley becomes Southern Miss? first track and field athlete to be named Academic All-American. She is also the school?s second Academic All-American this year, joining softball?s Charity Butler, a first-team selection. Tankersley becomes Southern Miss? 16th Academic All-American.
The senior,
Tankersley, a 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team selection, posted four top twenty finishes during cross country season. Her best time in the 5k was 20:36 and best time in the 6k, was 24:00. She recorded a time of 12:27.20 in the steeplechase during outdoor season, where she has three top eight finishes. She received the Forrest General Scholar Athlete Award and the Athletic training outstanding scholarship Award.
