Golden Eagle Football Players Earn Spring Academic Honors
HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The
?We've done well in the classroom,? Head Football Coach Jeff Bower said. ?We continue to be proud of our players' performance. Our kids do a great job, as well as our academic support staff and our coaches. We emphasize the importance of education with our players, and our high academic numbers show that they value their education.?
Five players earned President's List or Dean?s List honors, which recognizes students with a 4.0 or 3.25 grade point average or better on a minimum course load of 12 hours. The list was headed by Jonathan Palmer of
Other Golden Eagles who were members of the spring 2005 Dean?s List include:
Travis Cooley of Waynesboro, Miss., Joshua Kilpatrick of Monroeville, Ala., Akeem Lockett of Ripley, Miss., and Donald Loehr of Mandeville, La.
Sixteen players were also recognized on the Athletic Director?s Honor Roll, which recognizes student-athletes who achieve a minimum of a 3.0 grade-point average for a semester. Those Golden Eagles were: Kenneth Boley of Athens, Ala., Damion Carter of New Orleans, La., Derek Chapman of Germantown, Tenn., Stephen Daigle of Molino, Fla., Christian Fletcher of Mobile, Ala., Otho Graves of Bassfield, Miss., Anthony Harris of Demopolis, Ala., Justin Harris of Ama, La., Luke Johnson of Soso, Miss., Daron Lawrence of Orlando, Fla., Joseph Leech of Amory, Miss., John McMahan of Hattiesburg, Miss., Howard Overby of Mendenhall, Miss., Rashad Smith of Canton, Miss., Christopher White of Winona, Miss., and Jeremy Young of Jackson, Miss.
