Men's Golf Struggles In Opening Round Of LSU Invitational
BATON ROUGE, La. ? The Southern Miss men's golf team found the going tough in the opening round of the LSU Invitational, Friday, on the par 72, 7,274-yard University Club.
The Golden Eagles opened with a team total of 313 and currently stands in last place in the 17-team field. Host LSU, Texas-Arlington and Arkansas-Little Rock all are tied for first with a round of 292.
Kyle Ramey and Michael Soroka were the low scores for Southern Miss, both tying for 55th overall with respective rounds of 77. Danny Dennis is tied for 77th following his 79, while Justin Elliott and Grant Balcke are both tied for 85th with their scores of 80.
Second round action will begin Saturday morning at 8 a.m., and Southern Miss will be paired with players from Conference USA mates Memphis and USF. Final round play is set for Sunday.
