Men's Golf Tied For Fourth In Pinehurst Intercollegiate
PINEHURST, N.C. ? The Southern Miss men's golf team improved by 11 strokes in the second round and now stands tied for fourth overall in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at the Pinehurst No. 8 golf course.
The Golden Eagles opened with a 305 and then added a 294 in the second round for a total of 599. The score puts them 13 strokes out of first place SMU, which has a 292-294--586. Xavier and Indiana followed with totals of 589 and 595, while fellow Conference USA member Marquette also stands in the tie for fourth.
Southern Miss currently has three golfers among the top 20 in the field, led by Kyle Ramey, who is tied for eighth with a 77-71--148. Austin Bowen (75-75--150) and Grant Balcke (77-74--151) stand in ties for 13th and 16th, respectively. Justin Elliott (80-74--154) and Michael Soroka (76-78--154) are both tied for 29th.
Final round action will begin Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
