Women's Golf Finishes 10th At Waterlefe/USF Invitational
BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Southern Miss Lady Eagle golf team shot a three-round total of 975 to finish 10th at the Waterlefe/USF Invitational at the Waterlefe Golf Club here in Bradenton, Fla.
After opening with a 325 and 320 in the first two rounds on Monday, the Lady Eagles finished with a 330 in the final round on Tuesday. First-day leader Miami took home the team honors with a total of 888 (303-293-292), while host USF shot a day-best 291 to finish in second overall with its total of 907. Coastal Carolina (913), Campbell (915) and Georgia State (918) round out the top five.
Mia Davidsson finished as the low-scorer for Southern Miss, shooting a final-round 81 for a combined total of 237 to rank tied for 30th overall. Jennifer Bodemann also fired an 81 on the final day, posting a 243 for the tournament and was tied for 41st. Jennifer Keefe held 49th overall with her three-round score of 248, while Ashlea Deener also scored with a total of 250 to tie for 51st. Nicole Mackey also competed in the event, scoring a 252 for the tournament and tying for 54th overall.
Miami's Tina Miller earned medalist honors with a 4-under par 212 for the event, while Georgia State's Lisbeth Meincke finished second with a 2-under par 214. USF's Daniella Ronderos was third overall with a 218.
The Lady Eagles stay in the state of Florida to compete in the NIU Snowbird Classic at the Pebble Creek Country Club in Tampa, Fla. Tournament action begins on Thursday.
