Men's Golf Competes In 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. ? The Southern Miss men's golf team begins play today in the 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl Invitational at English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans, La.

This is the first tournament of the season for Southern Miss. Along with the Golden Eagles, 12 other schools will compete in the event, including host Tulane, Louisiana-Lafayette, Southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans, Ole Miss, South Alabama, UNC-Wilmington, Tulsa, Notre Dame, West Florida, Middle Tennessee State and Jacksonville State.

The men's golf team, under the direction of Head Coach Steve Johnson, competed in five events in the fall, with a second-place finish at the Fairway Club Invitational in Nebraska, and a third-place finish in the USA Fall Beach Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Play begins with a pair of rounds today, with the first beginning at 7:30 a.m., CT. Tuesday's action includes the final round and is set to begin at 8 a.m., CT.
