2005 Baseball Season Ticket Sales Show Increase
Hattiesburg, Miss. - Baseball season ticket numbers at The University of Southern Mississippi have shown an increase from 948 sold in 2004 to 1,043 sold in 2005, according to numbers released today by Director of Athletics Richard Giannini.
"We are extremely pleased that our season ticket numbers continue to climb each year," Giannini said. "Coach Corky Palmer and his staff have done an outstanding job and continue to take the baseball program to greater heights each year. These increased season ticket numbers are a credit to not only them and the program, but to the Golden Eagle fans as well, who faithfully support the program."
Southern Miss finished No. 18 in the nation in home attendance last year and have been ranked among the top 25 in home average attendance for the past 12 years. The opening day attendance record at "The Pete" was once again broken this past weekend as 2,901 fans were in attendance. Over 9,000 fans attended the three-game series against Marshall as well.
"The coaches and players really appreciate the fan support shown to us each season, and it continues to grow each year," Southern Miss Head Baseball Coach Corky Palmer said. "The atmosphere and excitement generated at "The Pete" is outstanding. Playing at home is an advantage for us, and we really appreciate the great support."
